Hello, my name is Ibrahima Jarjou!

As an International Student Athlete on a Basketball Scholarship at Central State University from Senegal, West Africa, I am fulfilling my dreams. Over the past two years in college, I have consistently been on the Dean’s List and was recently inducted into the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology. I am more than an athlete, but basketball has opened so many doors for me, and has taken me places that I could never imagine.

As a child growing up in Senegal, I didn’t know much about basketball. I was active in judo, wrestling, and also played soccer, which I was pretty good at. When I was 12 my teacher and coach, Wally Faye Goudiaby, introduced me to basketball. I fell in love!

Many children from my town played basketball with or without shoes, and I can’t count the number of times I wished someone would be kind enough to give me a pair to play in. My passions and dreams kept me motivated and focused on getting an education, and I still have a way to go. However, now that I’m in a position to help, I want to make sure I do. You and I can help kids that were just like me in trying to achieve their dreams. As I prepare to help coordinate this 2 Day Basketball Camp, Casamance Made, I would like to ask for your support and donations so we can help other kids that were like me. Thank you very much!
